How to use google voice for free calls?

how can I use it for free calls? are international (canada) calls free? how do i get a google voice number? I got it with the Google Essentials Pack, first I've ever heard of it. Please give easy instructions instead of pointing to a site, i'd really appreciate it|||get invite from here http://voipsms.blogspot.com|||I wanna know too....

If you are in the US (not Alaska or Hawaii) you can call thru GV to Canada for free. In the meantime, call your friends and family members at "work" in Canada for free by call 1-800-GOOG-411
