Once you downoad the google voice app for the droid 2 do you then lose the ability to check your?

voicemail the traditional way with verizon...*86?? I set up my google voice acct and DL the app but I previously had 2 new voicemails in my mailbox then I can not access because now when i dial *86 I can't access my voicemails. now when i dial *86 and press # it prompts me to leave a message on my own voicemail, not check messages.|||computers%26amp;internet%26gt;internet%26gt;google
